Light (/laɪt/) is an English word that has nominal, adjectival and verbal meanings.

As a verb, light is an ambiregular verb; it has the third person form "lights" (/laɪts/) , the -ing form "lighting,” but has both a regular preterite and past participle "lighted" (/laɪtɪd/), and an irregular preterite and past participle "lit" (/lɪt/).[1]
