The glottal stop letter, ʔ, is a symbol used to represent a glottal stop sound in the International Phonetic Alphabet:

It somewhat resembles a question mark without the full stop found within the question mark. It’s sometimes therefore known as a “gelded question mark”, because it resembles a question mark that has had a rather-painful-to-imagine operation.
