Example

From Teflpedia

An example is something that is representative of all such things in a group and thereby serves to illustrate or explain a rule.[1]

The use of examples to do this is called exemplification. This is a common pedagogical practice.

The Latin abbreviation e.g. is often used to mark examples; it may be read as letters, i.e. /i: ʤi:/ or as for example. We don’t normally say its Latin expansion exempli gratia. People often confuse e.g. with another abbreviation, i.e., which is an abbreviation of id est, which means “that is.”[2][3]

Teflpedia uses examples where appropriate.
