ALTE is the acronym for the Association of Language Testers in Europe.[1]

They have been deeply involved in Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, and they have produced various "can do" lists of ability.[2]

History

The association was originally formed in 1989 by the universities of Universities of Cambridge and Salamanca and quickly grew to eight members. Now, twenty-six languages are represented by thirty-one members.[3]
