Minor sentence

From Teflpedia

A minor sentence (/maɪnə sentəns/) or incomplete sentence or irregular sentence is a sentence which lacks either a subject or a predicate.[1] It is contrasted with a major sentence which possesses both.

In the following exchange, fairly typical of the speech of familiar native speakers, the all the sentences are minor sentences:

M: “Going out?"
S: “Yeah"
M: “Where?"
S: “The shops.”
M: “By yourself?"
S: “No, with Jess.”
