Language standardisation is the process whereby a standard language is evolved.[1][2]
English has undergone language standardisation to produce standard English. Once a language has undergone standardisation, it is now more difficult for language change to occur, particularly in the written language.
Language standardisation is often associated with the establishment of a language academy, which can assist the process, although English has been standardised without having an academy.
