Geoff Lindsey

From Teflpedia

Geoff Lindsey /ʤef lɪn(d)zi:/ is a phonetician.

He has an MA from UCL and an MA and PhD from UCLA.

He has argued that the phonetic transcriptions for Received Pronunciation, as used in dictionaries, are outdated, as the upper-class accent of the 20th century has died out. He has proposed a replacement transcription system for a more modern form of British English.[1]

He is also author of the book English After RP: Standard British Pronunciation Today (2019). He also is a YouTuber with his own YouTube channel.

Lindsey has also written, directed and produced films.[2]

Geoff Lindsey (with an E) shouldn’t be confused with the educational psychologist Geoff Lindsay (with an A).
