Compound sentence

From Teflpedia

A compound sentence is a sentence that has two (or more) independent clauses.[1]

They are usually joined by a co-ordinating conjunction, particularly “and" or “but.” However, they may also be joined by a comma, semicolon or dash.

If a compound sentence does not contain any dependent clauses, it’s a compound simple sentence. However, if it contains one or more dependent clauses, then it’s a complex compound sentence.
