I'm exploring software that will allow us to display the intersection between two or more categories, eg only pages that are in ''both'' of two or more categories. Till that is installed, please use some combination of above to find pages. Or try the Search box at page top. Thanks for all your great contributions! Don't forget to give them good category tags, now that you know about this! Cheers! --[[User:Roger|Roger]] 16:23, 19 October 2012 (CDT)

::Jameson, by the way, to indent replies on talk pages (it's our convention, although I suppose not strictly necessary), just put colons (:) at start of line. I've indented this and your line above by way of example. Add an extra colon for each lever of reply, eg (:), then (::), then (:::). So, I'm waiting for the shoe to drop... will you be adding category tags to [[Tornado]]? :-) --[[User:Roger|Roger]] 17:00, 19 October 2012 (CDT)

:::I will soon [[User:Roger|Roger]] - just finishing the spade work...

:::: ..ok [[User:Roger|Roger]], the category tag is there. Are there any other category tags out there? I was wondering if there was one for '''enegerizers'''... [[User:Jameson2000ad|James]]

:::::Good idea! Anyone can create new category tags by just typing <nowiki>[[category:something here]]</nowiki> at bottom of a page. Done! But it will be a red link till someone types some explanatory text at top of that category page, which is simply a matter of following the red link and typing something like, "Links to energizers -- short fast-paced activities to energize and motivate students", at top of that category page. This makes the category link blue. I have added <nowiki>[[Category:Energizer]]</nowiki> to the example category tags above. --[[User:Roger|Roger]] 13:43, 20 October 2012 (CDT)

== <nowiki>--~~~~</nowiki> ==

Tip: to add your signature to your comments on talk pages, just type <nowiki>--~~~~</nowiki>. When you save the page it changes into a date stamped link to your userpage. If you find typing <nowiki>--~~~~</nowiki> inconvenient, you can click the signature button, second from right, above the edit field which inserts it. I find it easier just to type <nowiki>--~~~~</nowiki>. The "--" double hyphen part is not necessary, just common wiki signature style. The date stamp is helpful however, so please do include it. You need four tildes to get the date stamp. Three tildes just gets you the userpage link. Glad to have you on board! --[[User:Roger|Roger]] 15:07, 20 October 2012 (CDT)

Thank you for responding on [[Teflpedia:Teachers'_room#Category_naming_conventions]]. I have added a reply below yours there regarding how the Search box's Go and Search buttons differ (you get Go when you use Return key; I think what you want is to click the Search button instead, to get a list of pages). --[[User:Roger|Roger]] 13:48, 21 October 2012 (CDT)

== Long-overdue greetings ==

Greetings Jameson2000. Sorry for not having popped in here sooner. Hope you don't/won't hold it against me next time we cross swords. Anyways, just wanted to thank ye for that great Class [[vocabulary envelopes]] I just came across... how 'bout creating a dedicated article on it? Cheers! --[[User:Technopat|Technopat]] 12:31, 24 October 2012 (CDT) PS. Talking of which, and sorry for being so subtle, does that Jamie in yer monicker have anything to do wiv [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jameson_Irish_Whiskey your namesake]. Or is it just an 'appy coincidence? :) --[[User:Technopat|Technopat]] 12:31, 24 October 2012 (CDT)

== Copyright ==

Hi James, we need to work out the copyright status of "File:Frying an egg.png" Where did you get the image? What can you tell us about it's copyright status? Thanks! (Note: you can generally click on an image to go to its file page.) --[[User:Roger|Roger]] 17:29, 27 October 2012 (CDT)

:From here: [http://www.columbia.edu/cu/cjas/agozzino1.html] but really, if there is a copyright on that image then there must also be one for stickmen - search images for "''mexican frying egg''". The set of images was found here: [http://lessonstream.org/2007/11/09/mexican-doodles/] and the lift puzzle from here [http://www.folklore.ee/Droodles/Lahutustyyp/4775.html]. If either of these are copyrighted, I`m sure we can doodle our own versions to upload...

:PPS - I have uploaded my own file for the bowtie puzzle --[[User:Jameson2000ad|Jameson2000ad]] 12:48, 30 October 2012 (CDT)

::Thanks James. Ideas are not copyrightable. Original work is. I think we are on the right track if we draw our own pictures and upload those instead of publishing on Teflpeida pictures, however simple, drawn by others without their permission. [[Visual puzzles]] still has a "collection of eight puzzles" image that we don't have permission for. I am not a lawyer, however, I feel we might be on the right track if we skip the "collection of puzzles" image altogether and just go with one puzzle per image. I like the drawings you have been doing -- white board style -- very nicely classroom-authentic, which communicates an excellent "You can do this easily on your white-board, too" message to our readers.

::Are you up for converting the "collection of puzzles" image into separate white-board style images? Oh, BTW, please put a "I drew this myself" note in the Summary field of the image upload form when you are uploading stuff you draw yourself. If you forget to, for images you have already uploaded, you can go to the image's File page, click edit and add your source note that way. It is important to clearly indicate the source of images we upload. That would be great! (If you don't want to do the drawings, let me know and I will try to do it. But they wouldn't be as good as yours!) --[[User:Roger|Roger]] 13:25, 30 October 2012 (CDT)

:::All done [[User:Roger|Roger]], I have replaced them with my own sketches. I don`t know how to delete the images that were previously there, so I`ll leave that up to you. I have also typed a note ''"This is my own sketch --[[User:Jameson2000ad|Jameson2000ad]] 16:15, 30 October 2012 (CDT)"'' in the '''edit''' screen. I tried to leave the note in the summary box but each time I saved and reloaded the page there was no summary - not sure what I was doing wrong so I just put the note in the edit boxes for all the other images I`ve sketched. If that isn`t the way I should do it, let me know how to save a summary properly and I`ll make the changes.... --[[User:Jameson2000ad|Jameson2000ad]] 16:15, 30 October 2012 (CDT)

::::Thanks James. Only Admins can delete stuff. I will do the deletions. If you ever need something deleted, you can drop me a note in [[user talk:roger|my talk page]]. Nice work! I especially like that elephant passing a window! :-) --[[User:Roger|Roger]] 16:34, 30 October 2012 (CDT)

Hi Jameson. It's realy great to see all your contributions here.  You put me, at least, to shame. I'd like to make a point on wiki editing though.  If you are making  number of small edits to an article (or building and article) it is best to use the "show preview" button to see how things are going to look and only use the "save page" button when you are satisfied how things are going to look.  If you use the "save page" button to review things then the "recent changes" page becomes hard to read.

Once you have been using wikis for a while you will find that  [[Special:RecentChanges | recent changes]] is often your first port of call as you can see at a glance where the current activity is on a wiki. Consequently, once a wiki gets a significant number of users, people can get irritated if the only thing they see on recent changes is a series of minor changes to one article.  (Of course, sometimes it's unavoidable as you only spot or remember something just after you've hit "save page".)

Anyway - keep up the good work!  Cheers.--[[User:Bob M|Bob M]] 12:12, 1 November 2012 (CDT)

:Ok [[User:Bob M|Bob M]], I had been wondering about that myself - thanks for letting me know - I`ll try to keep page saves to a minimum. --[[User:Jameson2000ad|Jameson2000ad]] 14:44, 1 November 2012 (CDT)

== Vocabulary envelopes ==

Hi James, <big>★</big> thanks for doing the [[Vocabulary envelopes]] page. It is great to see these ideas here! I smoothed out the page layout a bit and it looks great. I'm always happy to help any way I can. Feel free to let me know anytime you need help with anything. It can be tricky working with some elements of the wiki text, especially when you have graphics. The fun thing about a wiki is we can help each other and make great things together that will make a difference in classrooms around the world. Thanks for being part of Teflpedia! Cheers, --[[User:Roger|Roger]] 00:07, 6 November 2012 (CST)

:Thanks [[User:Roger|Roger]], the changes look good. You probably won´t see many developments from me for a while now because my visa came through and now I have to spend my week actually working instead of on teflpedia. I´ll be logging in now and again though, so you can expect a page now and then.--[[User:Jameson2000ad|Jameson2000ad]] 11:51, 11 November 2012 (CST)

::Aha! Cheers to your visa! Where to? It would be great to hear ever so little about where you are teaching on your [[User:Jameson2000ad]] page if you are not too shy to tell the world at large. Safe travels, happy teaching and remember to tell teacher friends about Teflpedia! :-) --[[User:Roger|Roger]] 21:58, 11 November 2012 (CST)

Hi James. What is the origin of Chinese Snap? Where did you learn it and do you have a creation date? The earliest creation date I know of is 2008, but I am not sure of the true origin. Thank you. [[User:Pappy|Pappy]] ([[User talk:Pappy|talk]]) 10:41, 29 November 2016 (UTC)
