There are as many teaching styles as there are teachers. The same teacher may even "adopt" different styles for teaching in different contexts, that is one-to-one, or large-sized classes, and so on.

Whatever style is adopted, Caine and Caine (1994) state that the teacher must create a state of relaxed alertness[1] in the students, by finding the perfect balance between feeling themselves challenged on the one hand, but relaxed and not threatened, on the other.


The Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS), based on the OECD’s 2005 review of teacher policy, offers insights on teaching and learning.[2]
