Sufficiency is an adequate amount of something.

Contrast insufficiency and excess.

Sufficiency is typically expressed with the modifier "enough", which can be an adjective or adverb depending on what it is modifying:

  • enough + NP (enough=adj)
  • adj + enough (enough=adv)

This is often taught as a special example, given its importance.

Synonyms include "sufficient(ly)", "adequate(ly)", etc.
