Spelling reform is a deliberate, often officially sanctioned or mandated spelling change.[1] English spelling is somewhat irregular. Advocates of reform (spelling reformists) call for English spelling to be reformed (spelling reformism). English-language spelling reform[2] is unlikely because no one is in charge. It is one type of language reform.

History of spelling reform[edit]
