A short story (/ʃɔ:t stɔ:ri/) is a piece of prose fiction that typically can be read in one sitting.[1] So they are shorter than novels.
Short stories can be used in lessons perhaps easier than a full-length novel. Collections of short stories are popular source material for graded readers, e.g. [2]
