Politics (/ˈpɒlətɪks/) is the activities associated with governance of a jurisdiction.

Language politics and education politics are both directly relevant to TEFL.

Politics is a potential area of study and discussion amongst students. However, it is not one that should be approached naively, and as such it is a PARSNIP. It is unlikely that expatriate teachers understand local politics, and "preaching democracy", given the imperfections of Western political systems, and the history of imperialism and colonialism, is usually best avoided.

People tend to assume that their own thoughts are rational and surprised when it turns out that most people in fact disagree with them.
