The term Intermediate refers to students who have attained a certain level of proficiency.

It is a term which may change depending on the person using it. The Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) attempts to provide some standardization to the question. Using this scale "Intermediate" would be equivalent to "B2", "Vantage" level.
