Grammatical number is a grammatical property of nouns that express how many nouns there are.

In English, nouns either lack number and are mass nouns, or they possess number. If they possess number they are count nouns and are either singular or plural.

English nouns generally carry grammatical markers indicating number. Verbs sometimes have number concord.
