An alphabet (/ælfəbet/) is a set of letters or other signs or signals that serve as equivalents for letters. English uses the Latin alphabet.

The Greek alphabet is also important. A spelling alphabet is a type of alphabet.

The Braille system used by blind people uses raised dots to represent letters and numbers.
