From Teflpedia

Yes (/ˈjes/) is an English independent polarity particle that indicates the affirmative[1]

It can be a pro-sentence and form very short answers, which could also be analysed as interjections. “Yes!"

Yes is also one of the most important words in English.

It can also be used as a noun, the plural being yeses or yesses, "e.g. the boys gave three yesses,,” Or as a verb.

The antonym of yes is no.

In traditional grammar, "yes" was analysed as an adverb, but this analysis now seems dubious at best.
