Where

From Teflpedia

Where (/ˈweə(r)/) is the English interrogative pronoun that is a place pronoun.

Like other place pronouns, where can function as a noun phrase, or as an adverb.

The /r/ is typically pronounced in rhotic accents, but not in non-rhotic accents unless where is followed by a vowel sound, e.g. where is it? (/ˈweər ɪz ɪt/)

In accents with the ᴡɪɴᴇ–ᴡʜɪɴᴇ merger, it is a homophone with the verb wear.
