Wh- statement
From Teflpedia
A wh- statement is a statement with a wh- word either as its subject, or as a wh- adverb. In English, for example:
- What to do in an emergency
- Where to go in an emergency.
These basically consist of a wh- word followed by a verb phrase with a to infinitive as its head. The verb phrase may or may not include a direct object; What to eat lacks one while How to eat shellfish has one.
Some EFL learners try to use a wh- statement as a question, when they should really be using a wh- question.
