Vowel trigraph
From Teflpedia
A vowel trigraph is a trigraph vowel phonogram representing a vowel sound.[1]
English examples include ⟨eau⟩, ⟨igh⟩, ⟨ugh⟩.
With final R we have ⟨air⟩, ⟨aur⟩, ⟨ear⟩, ⟨eer⟩, ⟨eir⟩, ⟨eur⟩, ⟨oar⟩, ⟨oor⟩, ⟨our⟩, ⟨oir⟩. Other combinations occur very marginally.
With an R-split digraph, split by ⟨r⟩, we have ⟨are⟩, ⟨ere⟩, ⟨ire⟩, ⟨ore⟩, ⟨ure⟩, and ⟨yre⟩.
