Unvoiced consonant

An unvoiced consonant is a consonant sound that is an unvoiced sound.

In English, using the standard set of phonemes, there are eight of these. These are /p/, /f/, /θ/, /t/, /s/, /ʃ/, /ʧ/ and /k/.

These are each a member of a consonant pair with a corresponding voiced consonant.
