United States

From Teflpedia

The United States is a country in North America.

It’s often referred to as “America" - though not without potential geographic ambiguities. The demonym is “American", though this does not translate well to some other languages, where America is referred to by the equivalent of *“United Statesian".

In the US, English, specifically American English, is the majority language. However, it isn’t an official language. It is however the de facto language of government, etc.

English is taught as a first language to native speakers. It is also taught as a second language to immigrants from all around the world. The largest group of these immigrants is Spanish-speaking.
