From Teflpedia

A tutorial is a brief space in time during a course in which the teacher can orientate a student and help personalise his/her learning process.

Time being always of the essence, it may be hard to find enough of it for "extra" curricular matters such as tutorials. However, in the same way that marking homework and exams are part and parcel of a teacher's lot, tutorials should be incorporated into the course.

Tutorials are ideal opportunities for the teacher to point out an individual student's strong/weak points and for the student to give the teacher feedback on how well the course is going/living up to the student's expectations.

Students appreciate the chance to "confide" their particular learning problems and in general give and obtain feedback - and even compliment their teacher.
