Is this article too cynical or simply realistic?--Bob M 08:11, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
As one of Spain's leading cynics, I find it pretty realistic. That said, maybe we can tone it down a bit and raise the tone at the Teachers' room. Regs., --Technopat 20:33, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
I've just re-read it and I can't say that I can see anything that is actually "wrong" with it and it certainly fits my experience. But my experience may not be typical and maybe there are some decent professional outfits out there. Possibly we should make some reference to their hypothetical existence.--Bob M 21:18, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
"Haberlas, haylas" - Re. your "maybe there are some decent professional outfits out there", my faith in human nature is always trying to convince me that that is indeed the case, but as a non-aligned freelance who keeps 'is ear to the ground to know what's going down - even if it's only so I can recommend some semi-decent place to students I have to turn down 'cos of lack of spare hours - and who has been recommending a name multinational outfit for many years now has just had the latest progress report from an ex-student who was unfortunate to be at the receiving end of five different teachers over a 3-month period just before summer. My half-hearted attempt to convince him that it was in fact positive to be exposed to different teaching styles & accents and that at his high level it was part of the challenge & fun of learning fell on deaf ears. He knew perfectly well that it was not a systematic team-teaching policy but the result of teachers feeling exploited & moving on. Conclusion: the only "outfits" out there are cowboy outfits... Have you read Candide recently? :) Regs., --Technopat 22:27, 20 October 2009 (UTC)
Still trying to be optimistic, perhaps our Spanish perspective is too narrow. Scratchchin.gif Maybe there are non-cowboy outfits in other parts of Europe? I won't say Asia because every report I have read from there suggests that it's worse then Spain.
You have the advantage of me with Candide. Must put it on my list.--Bob M 10:35, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
