From Teflpedia

TOEFL, from Test of English as a Foreign Language[1] is a standardised test of English that is used to determine ability to understand and speak English, and is often used by North American universities and colleges when considering admission of non-native speaker students.

TOEFL scores are also used by many government agencies, scholarship programmes, and licensing/certification agencies to evaluate English proficiency.

Examples of the TOEFL questions can be found at the Exam English website. TOEFL podcasts[2] may also be obtained over the internet.
