Syllable structure

From Teflpedia

Syllable structure is the structure of syllables.

Each syllable has a syllabic peak or nucleus. It may also have either or both an onset (initial consonant sound), and a coda (final consonant sound). The peak and coda together are known as the rime.

English syllables are generally classified into open syllables and closed syllables. Open syllables have no coda, whereas closed syllables have a coda.
