Single past event
A single past event is a single event that occurred in past time.
For example, the United States’ declaration of independence on 4th July 1776 is a historical event.
In English, to describe such an event, we tend to use the historic past, thereby using the past simple to describe such events. However, less commonly we would use the historic present instead.
Contrast repeated past event.
