Sidney Greenbaum

Sidney Greenbaum (1929–1996) was a British scholar of English language and linguistics. He was Quain Professor of English language and literature at University College London from 1983 to 1990 and Director of the Survey of English Usage, 1983-96,[1] taking over both posts from Randolph Quirk.[2] He was author, with Quirk and others, of A Comprehensive Grammar of the English Language (Longman 1985).
