Sexism

From Teflpedia

Sexism (/ˈseksɪzm/) is prejudice or discrimination based on a person's sex or gender.[1]

Since language reflects society, and society is unfortunately somewhat sexist, this results in sexist language. Attempts by English language feminists to reduce sexism in society and proscribe sexist language in favour of politically correct language have both been partially successful.

Some cultures may be more sexist than others, or at least are sexist in different ways.

Sexism is an -ism, and -ism is a PARSNIP, which makes it potentially a taboo subject in discussions.

Systemic sexism in Wikipedia has been widely noted, and it would be unwise to believe that Teflpedia was immune from this.
