Schwa letter

From Teflpedia

Ə, lower case ə, also called schwa is an alphabetic letter that is based on the form of a turned lower case e.[1]

It is not part of the standard Latin alphabet. The lower case form ə is used in IPA to represent the schwa sound, as used in English.

Ə ə

In its lowercase form, this shouldn’t be confused with the lowercase reversed E, ɘ, which it superficially resembles.
