A romance language (/rəmæns læŋgwɪʤ/) is a member of the romance language family, a language family that consists of various languages descended from Latin.[1] They are a subgroup of the Indo-European languages.

The main romance languages of national or international importance are Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, and Romanian. There are others of regional importance.
