Relative clause transformation

From Teflpedia

A relative clause transformation is a type of transformation exercise in which language learners are typically asked to combine two sentences into one using a relative clause.

For example, students may be given the sentences:

  • "My sister is a teacher. She lives in Birmingham."

And have to produce a defining relative clause "My sister is a teacher who works in Birmingham", or non-defining relative clause "My sister, who is a teacher, works in Birmingham" or "My sister, who works in Birmingham, is a teacher".
