Reading age

Reading age is a measure of a child's reading proficiency compared to norm for a native speaker of their language. Some children read better than their actual age, whilst others read less well. It Superscript textis somewhat inappropriate for foreign language learners however, who tend to read less well in their L2 (e.g. English) than native-speaking children their own age do in their L1 (e.g. English).
