Prisencolinensinainciusol

From Teflpedia

Prisencolinensinainciusol /ˌpri:.zen.kɒ.lɪnˌen.sɪ.nəˈʧu:.zɒl/ is a song, written by Adriano Celentano, a singer from Italy, and originally performed by Celentano with his wife Claudia Mori.[1]

It was a number one hit in 1972 in Italy and France, and a minor hit in a few other countries. The lyrics are pseudo-English, i.e. nonsense in the style of English, similar to what English sounds like to a non-English speaker.

Performances of the song saw the Celentano as a teacher, and Mori and others as students who repeated his phrases in a call-and-response manner.[2]

According to Wikipedia (citation needed) "The intent was to demonstrate the idea that while many Italians loved authentic English-language songs, not many knew English well enough to understand what the authentic songs' lyrics meant".[3]
