Preposition of movement

A preposition of movement (/prepəzɪʃən əv mu:vmənt/) is a preposition used to link movement.[1] These are common in English. They are usually used with a verb of motion. For example,

I walk from the station to the office.

Prepositions of movement include; above, across, against, along, amid, amongst, around, aside, atop, away, away from, back, back of, back to, backwards, before, behind, below, beneath, beside, between, beyond, by, down, down from, down to, during, except, far from, forward, from, in, in front of, inside, into, near, next to, off, on, onto, opposite, out, out of, outside, over, past, round, through, to, towards, under, underneath, up, up to, upon, via, with, within, without.

Note some of these words can also be used as prepositions of place (e.g. over), but in the context of prepositions of movement, they are used to indicate direction or movement.
