Perspective shift
From Teflpedia
Perspective shift occurs in reported speech.[1]
- Anna (to Bob): "I go to the park twice a week".
- Bob (to Charlie): "Anna said she goes to the park twice a week"
The underlined pronoun she is shifted from the perspective; we wouldn’t usually say "Anna said I go to the park twice a week." unless it’s a direct quotation.
