Disambiguation: pastime shouldn't be confused with past time.

A hobby (/hɒbi/) or pastime (/pæstaɪm/) is a regular activity done for enjoyment, typically during one's leisure time, not professionally and not for pay.[1]

For many people, learning English or other foreign languages is a hobby. Hobbies are also good things to talk about in class. We usually say "What are your hobbies?" rather than "What is your hobby?".

Teacher: "Sunny, what are your hobbies?"
Sunny: "I don't have a hobby."
Teacher: "What about learning English? Isn't that a hobby?"
Sunny: "Um, yeah."

The word hobby may be confused with habit (/hæbɪt/), and students may then say hobbit (/hɒbɪt/), such as *"What is your hobbit?"
