Past simple form

Second form is one of the two names (the other being remote form) suggested by Michael Lewis in The English Verb[1] for that form of the verb used for the Past Simple tense. In the tables of principal parts of irregular verbs traditionally learnt by students - go - went- gone, for example, the form listed second is the second form.
