Open question

From Teflpedia

An open question (/əʊpən kwesʧən/) is a question whose set of possible answers are not defined by the question, as they are in its antonym, a closed question.[1]

In English, wh- questions are by far the most common type of open question and for pedagogic grammar purposes "open question" and "wh-question" might be used synonymously. However they are only near-synonyms as other types are possible, particularly in speech, for example:

I’m a teacher. And your job?

is an open question but it isn’t a wh- question.
