Non-sibilant fricative
From Teflpedia
A non-sibilant fricative is a fricative (i.e. a type of consonant sound) that is not a sibilant, but instead, well a non-sibilant.
There are 5 non-sibilant fricatives in the standard English phonemes, which are:
- Two dental fricatives — the unvoiced dental fricative /θ/ and the voiced dental fricative /ð/.
- One glottal fricative — the unvoiced glottal fricative /h/.
- Two labiodental fricatives — the unvoiced labiodental fricative /f/ and the voiced labiodental fricative /v/.
