Nasal sound

From Teflpedia

A nasal sound (/neɪzəl saʊnd/) or simply nasal (/neɪzəl/) is a speech sound that is produced through the nose. Contrast oral sound.

In standard English phonemes, there are three nasal consonant sounds; /m/, /n/ and /ŋ/.

Some English speakers may also produce vowel phonemes nasally, though this isn’t standard pronunciation.

Finally, some English speakers may produce nasal sounds in French loanwords as they are found in French, particularly if they can speak French.
