Motivation is what drives students to learn. It may be intrinsic or extrinsic, and is what encourages them to overcome difficulties they may encounter in the learning process, including apparently non-academic circumstances such as travel, work, finance, and other personal circumstances.
As teachers, we must be aware of the motivation - or lack of - students have in attending our classes.
