Meet is an irregular lexical verb - it has the third person form "meets", the -ing form "meeting", but an irregular preterite and past participle "met.” The last one may be over-regularised to *"meeted.”
Substituting a /t/ for a /d/, meet has the same pronunciation pattern as bleed, breed, read and lead “cause to follow”.
