Disambiguation: May is also a month of the year

May (/meɪ/) is an English full modal verb that expresses possibility.

As such, it can be seen as a weaker form of "will", which expresses present or future certainty. May can also be used for permission, particularly in a formal sense.

The preterite of may is "might", though this relationship seems to be breaking down somewhat.[1]

There is a perfect form "may have".
