Lowercase R is a turtle letter.
The stroke order is:
- Down from the middle
- Up and round
For good handwriting, it’s desirable to distinguish lowercase R from lowercase V, which sometimes look similar.
In the International Phonetic Alphabet, lowercase R is used to represent the voiced alveolar trill [r]. It’s also used in phonemic notation to represent the R phoneme /r/.
