Longman Grammar of Spoken and Written English
The Longman Grammar of Spoken and Written English (LGSWE) is a grammar book by Douglas Biber, Stig Johansson, Geoffrey Leech, Susan Conrad and Edward Finegan. It may be referenced as "Biber et al. (1999)"
It is significant as being the first major grammar derived from corpus linguistics.
The similarly-titled Longman Student Grammar of Spoken and Written English by Biber, Leech and Conrad was published in 2002 as a more accessible introduction.
