Loan phrase

From Teflpedia

A loan phrase (/ˈləʊn ˈfreɪz/) is a phrase from one language that is loaned into another.

Since single words can form single-word phrases, all loanwords are single-word loan phrases. multi-word phrases can also be loaned. Although loanwords tend, with the passing of time, to become accepted as English words, multi-word phrases tend to retain "foreignness" and may be written in italics.

English has many loan phrases mostly of French or Latin origin.
