Learner belief
From Teflpedia
A learner belief is something that a learner - in our context an English language learner, believes.
These beliefs may be based on experience, evidence, culture, etc.
It can be particularly difficult if a student believes in methodology that the teacher doesn’t think is effective. For example, if a student believes in the grammar-translation method because that is all they have experienced in terms of language learning and they think it is how language “should" be learnt. New methods may raise the affective filter.
