Language family

From Teflpedia

A language family is a category languages related to each other via all deriving from a common ancestral language or parental language.[1]

English belongs to the Germanic language family, along with languages like Danish, Dutch, German, Swedish and Norwegian, and others.

Language families are in turn grouped together into larger groups, and subdivided into smaller groups according to the tree model.

Other important language families include the Romance languages and the Slavic languages
